A Small Farm in the City * Moscow, ID

Deep Roots Farm grows vegetables using techniques that promote biodiversity on our farm. We practice an intensive planting rotation to allow plants to support and nurture each other utilizing cover crops that feed the soil and attract beneficial insects. We grow a variety of crops that are well suited to our climate and sell directly to you, our loyal customers, at the Moscow Farmers Market and through our CSA. We are also excited about our new line of value-added products that are made with our farm grown produce. Available at Moscow Farmers Market and online. And learn a little about our farming philosophy here.

Greg Freistadt

Growing up in Montana Greg always had an appreciation for the natural world. Although focused on outdoor recreation, he developed a green thumb by helping his parents garden and landscape. Greg's love for travel has taken him around the world where in Southeast Asia he gained an appreciation for fresh, local foods and small farming. While pursuing a BS in natural resources from the University of Idaho ('10), he developed a passion for sustainable agriculture. As an intern at the WSU Organic Farm and working at a few other local farms he gained the knowledge to start his own farm and consulting business.

Marci Miller

An Idaho farm girl found her roots after meeting Greg and traveling the world together. After graduating from the University of Idaho ('10) with a degree in Conservation Social Science and a certificate on Sustainable Small Acreage Farming and Ranching, together they launched into business on their own. Marci's favorite part of farming is the little milestones of each season, the satisfaction that comes from pulling weeds and thinning rows of young carrots. She also loves educating others about farming, talking about recipes, and spending quiet mornings in the barn milking goats.
